Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.
Hamuq uses FedEx to deliver their mattresses directly to customers’ doors throughout Canada. In some cases, the delivery can even be left on a porch or deck while the customer is away from home. Shipping is free for the majority of orders, and Hamuq customers can expect their new mattress to be delivered within 7 business days.
Like many bed-in-a-box companies, Hamuq heavily promotes their Hamuq Mattress sleep trial. At 120 nights, this sleep trial is 20 nights longer than the industry standard of 100 nights. The company also offers free mattress pick-up and a full refund when returned.
It is worth noting that Mattress-Reviews.com did not complete the return process for the Hamuq mattress, but received this information via Hamuq’s website and their ‘Live Chat’ function.

The Hamuq mattress was delivered to us within our expected delivery time. It was well protected by heavy-duty plastic layers within the box to protect the mattress during shipping.
The Hamuq mattress box has an overlapping cardboard lid that can be removed without the need for scissors or a knife. Once opened, the compressed mattress is easy to remove from the box. We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide the mattress out from its cardboard container. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down onto its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most efficient to do this process in the room where you intend to use the mattress.
Hamuq’s mattress is protected with three layers of heavy-duty plastic – a thin inner layer to keep it compressed in a vacuum seal, and two thick outer layers to keep the mattress tightly rolled in a cylinder shape.
Customers will need to unwrap the outer layers in order to unroll the mattress, which will still be in its compressed form. Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled up mattress onto the designated bed frame. Next, like the end of a roll of tape, find and peel back the outer layer of plastic. You can use the momentum of unrolling the compressed mattress along the bed frame to help remove the rest of this layer, which could be up to a few meters long. After completing this process, the mattress will be lying unrolled before you.
Next, open the final layer of plastic (no need for scissors). The vacuum seal now broken, the mattress will begin to decompress. Remove this final layer of plastic as the mattress expands to its full height. With the Hamuq mattress, full expansion took about 2 minutes.

The Hamuq mattress is a spring and memory foam combination pillow-top mattress, which means it combines foam and metal to achieve its level comfort and support.
It’s available only in one firmness and height option.
Hamuq Mattress Layers
- Cover fill: Polyester fill. This lightweight fill pads the tufted cover and contributes to the softness of the pillow-top.
- First layer: 0.75 inches of comfort foam. The first of four thin layers of foam that contribute to the unique feel of the mattress.
- Second layer: 1 inch of Cloud Tech™ Soft foam. This layer provides additional softness to the upper portion of the mattress for pressure-point relief.
- Third layer: 1 inch of Cloud Tech™ Comfort foam. An additional layer of foam to enable an overall balance of comfort and support.
- Fourth layer: 0.5 inches of TRS Adaptive Gel™ foam. While other mattresses like Logan & Cove use reinforced pocketed coils in the central third of the mattress to provide extra support beneath the hips, Hamuq incorporates a half-inch layer of zonal foam to firm up the middle of the bed. This layer also contains cooling gel to assist with heat dissipation at the intersection of the foam and coil layers.
- Fifth layer: 8 inches of pocketed coils. Hamuq’s individually wrapped coils make up the main support layer of the mattress, as well as helping to reduce motion transfer.
- Sixth layer: 0.5 inches of biofoam. This thin layer soy and polyurethane at the very bottom of the mattress provides the final layer of support and shock absorption between the mattress and the bed frame.
Hamuq Mattress Cover
The top cover of the Hamuq mattress is a blend of cotton and felt: white in colour and soft to the touch. With a traditional ‘tack-and-jump’ style design, often found on hybrid mattresses, the Hamuq cover is simple, yet pleasing to the eye. The Hamuq top cover is not machine washable and can be spot cleaned only.

Feel & Firmness
According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the Hamuq mattress receives a score of 7.6 / 10 on the firmness scale. Hamuq does not have excessive ‘hug,’ and the pillow-top comfort layers give it a degree of softness as you lie down. Its supportive coil base ensures there is no excessive sinkage. This is typical of a hybrid mattress bordering between firm and medium-firm.
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation in hybrid mattresses is usually very good and one of the main shopping considerations for customers who share their bed with a partner. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), minimal motion transfer was detected with the Hamuq mattress, and it rated at a 6.4 / 10 on the motion isolation scale.
Edge Support
Coil-based mattresses are known for their edge support relative to foam mattresses. It is often one of the main selling features highlighted by mattress retailers for customers considering this type of bed. Hamuq has done a good job with edge support for their hybrid mattress. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), it rated at a 7.2 / 10 on the edge support scale.
Bounce
Mattresses containing springs are known for having much better bounce as compared to their foam-based counterparts. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the Hamuq mattress scored a 4.9 /10 on the bounce scale.

Who buys a Hamuq mattress?
At $1,050 CAD for a queen-size mattress, the Hamuq hybrid is offered at a reasonable price point compared to many store-based mattresses. As one of the few hybrid mattresses to be delivered in a box, Hamuq has used a combination of foam and springs to cater to Canadians looking for the best of both types of mattress.
That being said, there are plenty of other considerations common for customers shopping in this mattress segment. Hamuq is only available in a single firmness option, which means that certain body types and comfort preferences may not be accommodated as well as with some other brands that offer a range of firmness options.
The Hamuq mattress also does not have reinforced coils in the central third of the mattress where the most body weight is concentrated. Typically, this style of mattress is more susceptible to sagging over time than mattresses with a zoned coil layout. Though Hamuq does include a half-inch of zoned foam in the middle of the mattress, this might not be enough over the long-term to offset the weight of larger individuals; however, lightweight individuals might appreciate this balance.
For Canadians looking for a taller mattress, one with more features, a luxurious design, and an engineered feel, take a look at Logan & Cove. Available at just $999 for a queen size, your purchase will get you luxury quality while still supporting a Canadian company.
