Serta Perfect Sleeper: Are Sleepers Paying Just for the Brand Name?
Serta is a well-known name in the mattress industry with decades of experience. The company’s hybrid and memory foam mattresses cater to a wide range of sleepers. But can Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall live up to the hype?
Percevall is a hybrid mattress with two cooling features. The mattress uses temperature-regulating support gel foam, and the cover contains silver fibres. It’s not uncommon for hybrid mattresses to be more expensive than other mattress types. But at $1,389 for a queen and with few cooling features, the Percevall might make you wonder, “What exactly am I paying for?”
You won’t find any added value in the sleep trial and warranty. When you buy the Percevall through Sleep Country, you get a 100-night sleep trial. But Sleep Country does not provide full refunds, only exchanges. You will have to bring back the mattress yourself, and the company charges a $65 exchange fee. If you do keep the mattress, it only comes with an industry-standard 10-year warranty.
Overall, Percevall is more expensive than other cooling mattresses and offers less value. Consider a competitor like the Octave Vista instead. Vista offers more cooling features and zoned support for $899 for a queen. In addition to a more competitive price, you get a free bedding bundle, a 365-night sleep trial with full refunds, and a 15-year mattress warranty.

First Impressions: Straight Out of the Box
Arrival & Unboxing
The Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall mattress we purchased came from Sleep Country. The company typically ships mattresses within 3–10 business days.
Sleep Country uses its own shipping service. Mattress shipping is free by default because it goes beyond the $75 order minimum. The company offers an optional upgrade to Green Glove Delivery. This includes moving the mattress to a specific room, setting it up, removing your old mattress, and cleaning up any packaging. Like other retailers, there may be added shipping fees and a longer shipping timeline for remote regions.
Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall arrived wrapped in a single layer of plastic. Upon receiving Elite Percevall, we noticed a tear in the wrapping close to the middle of the short edge, near the “Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite” brand tag. Fortunately, the mattress didn’t seem to be damaged.
This mattress may ship to you differently. Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall is no longer available at Sleep Country, and third-party mattress resellers may have different shipping practices.
Look & Feel
Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall is cool to the touch because of the top cover’s ComfortCool Anti-Microbial Fabric. The quilted cover is white with irregular dark blue striped highlights. The sides of the mattresses are also dark blue and have a thick diamond pattern stripe running across the middle.

Feel & Firmness
With a score of 7.6 / 10, the Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall is considered a firm mattress. It has little sink, which is suitable for back sleepers, stomach sleepers, and those with heavier bodies.
While the mattress is designed with zoned pocket coils to help conform to your body’s shape, side sleepers or lighter sleepers may prefer a mattress that’s closer to medium-firm. Medium-firm mattresses are the most popular choice among Canadian sleepers because they suit a wide range of sleep positions.
Edge Support
Some mattress shoppers favour hybrid mattresses for their edge support. Unlike their all-foam counterparts, some hybrids have additional support at the sidewalls. This makes getting off the mattress easier and can be helpful for those with mobility issues.
The Percevall is one of those hybrids that features a foam encasement, along with zoned pocket coils for added support. In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), the Percevall scored 9.5 / 10 for edge support, which is a very good score.
Motion Isolation
The Percevall earned a motion isolation rating of 6.3 / 10. This is above average for a hybrid mattress. The Percevall is constructed with individually wrapped zoned pocket coils and Serta® support gel foam to limit motion transfer. However, you may feel some vibrations from your partner moving throughout the night.
If motion isolation is your number-one priority, we recommend checking out Octave Vista. Memory foam mattresses are more widely known for great motion isolation, and Octave Vista delivers with an impressive motion isolation score of 7.3 / 10.
Bounce
Hybrids tend to be bouncier than foam mattresses, but the amount of bounce can vary depending on overall mattress firmness and the thickness of individual layers. Some sleepers also prefer a higher level of bounce for easier movement, while others want less bounce for a more consistent sleep surface.
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall scored 7.8/10 for bounce. This is a higher score, especially when you consider how firm the mattress is. Sleepers should experience a highly springy and responsive sleep surface.

Mattress Layers
The 11.5″ Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall is a firm mattress with four distinct layers. Three of these layers are foam, and one layer contains both foam and coils.
- First Layer: 1” of gel foam that’s quilted down directly beneath the top cover. The quilting creates pockets that add to your comfort while lying on the mattress.
- Second Layer: 2” of gel foam, which both contours to your body and prevents you from feeling the coils in the layer below.
- Third Layer: 1,215 individually wrapped 8” coils, divided into five support zones for targeted pressure relief, with 3-inch-thick encasement foam to reinforce the perimeter of the mattress.
- Fourth Layer: 0.5” of base foam to provide additional support and fully encase the coils.
All foams used in the Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall are CertiPur-US® certified. Serta indicates that the Serta® Support Gel Foam used is temperature-regulating, but does not disclose the densities for the foams used in the mattress.
Mattress Cover
Serta Elite Sleeper Percevall’s top cover uses ComfortCool Anti-Microbial Fabric and Serta® SilverPur Fibre. These materials are meant to help keep you cool as you lie on the mattress, and to keep it fresher for longer. Elite Percevall’s mattress cover is not removable or machine washable.

We ordered the Percevall online from Sleep Country Canada, which also accepts in-store orders. Sleep Country will ship orders based on their inventory levels, so a 3–10 business day shipping time is reasonable. Sleep Country uses its own shipping service to deliver products to customers.
Sleep Country offers both standard delivery service and optional Green Glove Delivery, which includes full set-up service and packaging disposal. Delivery workers will also remove your old mattress and bedframe if needed.
Sleep Country offers a 100-night sleep trial. However, if you’re unsatisfied with the Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall, Sleep Country will not refund your purchase. They offer credit for an in-store exchange only, which incurs a $65 exchange fee. You’re also responsible for returning the mattress to the store; Sleep Country does not offer return pickup service.
Sleep Country typically offers a 10-year store warranty on its mattresses. Serta offers a limited manufacturer’s warranty of varying lengths depending on the law code printed on the mattress tag. The warranty code on the mattress we purchased was “W9,” indicating a 10-year warranty length for our Percevall. Serta’s warranty covers manufacturing defects only.
Note that Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Percevall is no longer available through Sleep Country. You may be able to purchase it through a mattress reseller.
