PerfectSense Mattress Review (2024)
Disclaimer: We are owned and operated by GoodMorning.com. We hire 3rd-party engineers and use public data to rate mattresses on over 30 criteria that we believe are important. Brands we own—Douglas, Juno, Octave, and Logan & Cove, and Novosbed—are reviewed and advertised where indicated. Views expressed here are our opinions only. Full details.
Overall Rating
PerfectSense was a three-layer foam mattress and sold exclusively online. The company has ceased operations and has not been active on its social media accounts since 2021.
Similar to Zinus, Lucid, and other mattress in the budget mattress category, the PerfectSense was made in China. Its retail price was listed at $699 CAD for a queen ($499 sale price), and can be returned for a refund within the 100-night trial period.
Since the PerfectSense mattress is no longer available, we recommend the Canadian-made Juno.
Firmness
The PerfectSense mattress we tested for this review is available in one firmness option. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), it is rated at 6.1 out of 10 on the firmness scale.

PerfectSense Home is an online bedding and home textile producer that operates primarily in Canada. The small e-commerce company joined the competitive mattress-in-a-box field in 2018 with the release of their 10-inch foam mattress. The mattress is imported from China and competes in the budget category with brands like Juno, Zinus, and Classic Brands. PerfectSense also sells an assortment of other sleep accessories on their website. Their company slogan is “Sleep Better, Live Better.”

Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.
PerfectSense uses a variety of shipping partners to deliver their mattress directly to customers’ doors across Canada. Shipping is free to all provinces and territories, and PerfectSense estimates that customers can expect their new mattress to be delivered within 2 to 5 business days; however, our experience did not validate this estimate. These shipping delays are further validated in the company’s public Google reviews.
Like many bed-in-a-box companies, PerfectSense heavily promotes their Sleep Easy Trial. At 100 nights, this sleep trial is average in length.
It is worth noting that Mattress-Reviews.com did not complete the return process, but received this information via the messenger function on PerfectSense’s Facebook page.

The PerfectSense mattress we ordered through the company’s website took 18 business days to arrive, well beyond the delivery estimate advertised on their website. Prolonged shipping delays and backorders are not uncommon for mattresses originating from China. The product arrived with only minor discolouration to the box. Specialist bed-in-a-box retailers typically include multiple layers of durable plastic protection to compensate for any mishaps during the transit process.
The PerfectSense mattress box was well-sealed with heavy-duty tape. A pair of scissors or a knife was needed to open the box. To avoid damage to your new purchase, remember to be extra careful when using sharp objects to open the box.
Once opened, the compressed mattress is easy to remove from the box. We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide the mattress out from its cardboard container. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down onto its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most efficient to do this process in the room where you intend to use the mattress.
The PerfectSense mattress is protected with two layers of plastic – a thin inner layer to compress it in a vacuum seal, and a thicker outer layer to keep the mattress tightly rolled in a cylinder shape.
Customers will need to slice open the outer layer in order to unroll the mattress, which will still be in its compressed form. Next, unfold the mattress and place it right-side up along the designated bed frame. Cut the final layer of plastic. The vacuum seal now broken, the mattress will begin to decompress. Remove this final layer of plastic as the mattress expands to its full height. For the PerfectSense mattress, full expansion took around 5 minutes.

The PerfectSense is a 10-inch combination foam mattress made up of three distinct layers. By pairing together different foam types and firmness levels, PerfectSense has designed a configuration that offers reasonable comfort and support.
The PerfectSense foam mattress is available only in one firmness option. This is standard for the one-size-fits-all approach commonly used by bed-in-a-box companies.
PerfectSense Mattress Layers
The PerfectSense mattress contains three layers:
- First layer: 2 inches of cooling gel foam. This top comfort layer provides cushioning and softness as soon as you lie down. Layer density: 2.8 lbs/ft³.
- Second layer: 2 inches of polyurethane foam. This transition layer works with the layers above it and below to help reduce motion transfer and offer pressure-point relief. Layer density: 1.6 lbs/ft³.
- Third layer: 6 inches of support foam. This base layer provides the overall structure and support for the mattress, enabling the functions of the layers above. Layer density: 1.5 lbs/ft³.
PerfectSense Mattress Cover
PerfectSense has a two-tone cover design that is common among bed-in-a-box brands. The bottom portion is made of grey upholstery, while the top portion is made of white jacquard knit. A purple stripe and zipper divide the upper and lower portions. There are no identifying brand markers anywhere on the exterior of the mattress. While the PerfectSense website advertises that the mattress uses an organic bamboo cover, the law label on the mattress lists the cover materials as 100% polyester.
For care and maintenance, the top portion of the PerfectSense cover can be unzipped, removed, and cleaned in the washing machine.
PerfectSense Mattress: Environmental Sustainability
GoodMorning.com Inc. carried out a survey in February 2017, discovering that almost 50% of Canadians are willing to spend more money for more environmentally friendly products. Therefore, in every review on Mattress-Reviews.com, we will highlight each mattress company’s green philosophy, as well as how prominent their policies are on their websites.

Feel & Firmness
PerfectSense is a medium-firm mattress that claims to offer “perfect firmness” among its comfort features. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), it is rated at a 6.1 / 10 on the firmness spectrum. Despite its firmness, the PerfectSense mattress still has plenty of ‘hug.’
Motion Isolation
Their superior ability to reduce motion transfer and sleep disturbances is one of the main reasons why customers shop for foam-based mattresses. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), PerfectSense earns a score of 4.1 /10 on the motion isolation scale. This is one of the lowest scores of any mattress tested on Mattress-Reviews.com, meaning less motion isolation than comparable mattress brands.
Edge Support
Foam-based mattresses are not typically known for their edge support; in fact, it is one of the main considerations for customers who are considering switching over from a hybrid or innerspring bed. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the PerfectSense mattress has an edge support rating of 5.7 / 10.
Bounce
Foam-based mattresses are known for having less bounce than their innerspring counterparts. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the PerfectSense mattress was rated at 3.6 / 10 on the bounce scale.

Who buys a PerfectSense mattress?
PerfectSense shoppers are likely to be very price-driven. As such, the routine discount that brings the $699 CAD price point for a queen-size mattress down to $499 will seem quite enticing. Price-sensitive shoppers are typically more willing to overlook something like a brand’s poorer performance ratings (e.g. low motion isolation scores) in favour of saving money or feeling like they got a good deal.
Instead of a mid-range brand, it is more accurate to consider PerfectSense as a budget brand in the same category as Bloom Earth or Zinus. All three of these brands are imported into North America from China or other regions. However, Zinus is the only one to make this information publicly available prior to purchase. Chinese mattress imports are often subject to stock delays as inventory runs out. In our case, this information was not made available to us prior to purchase, resulting in a shipping delay that lasted nearly one full month.
Since PerfectSense is no longer available, we recommend that you check out Juno. Juno is Mattress-Reviews.com’s TOP PICK for MATTRESS UNDER $500 CAD. Each Juno is made in Canada and affordably priced at just $499 for a queen. It comes with a 120-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty, along with free pillow(s) and bedding.
Buy a PerfectSense mattress if you want:
- A 10-inch mattress for a relatively low price
- A mattress with cooling gel foam
- A mattress with lots of ‘hug’
Consider a Juno mattress if you want:
- A Canadian-made mattress
- A mattress with a balanced medium-firm feel
- Free pillow(s) and bedding with your purchase
- A mattress with a longer sleep trial
