Luxury Cooling Mattress
Octave is the next step in the evolution of Novosbed, one of the top-rated mattress brands for owner satisfaction. The Octave lineup includes three mattresses: the entry-level Octave Vista, the upgraded Octave Mirage, and the top-tier Octave Horizon, which provides the ultimate in cooling, comfort, and support.
Octave Horizon is engineered in Canada and offers the best cooling, support, and comfort in the Octave mattress collection. These top-of-the-line cooling technologies counteract the heat-trapping properties of memory foam to provide a cool, comfortable sleep all night long:
- Luxurious ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam to soothe sore muscles and joints
- A cool-to-the-touch CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibre cover
- Heat-dissipating CopperGel™ memory foam
- Temperature-balancing PolarMAX® infusion
- Aerated latex foam with hundreds of breathable vents for optimal airflow
- Premium open-cell foam for pressure-point relief
- Continuous ventilation from support foam air channels
Overall, Octave Horizon offers more cooling features than Octave Vista and Octave Mirage, as well as enhanced pressure relief and motion isolation for the most comfortable sleep experience. The product of more than a decade of sleep research, customer feedback, and product testing, Octave Horizon is well worth the additional investment at $1,499 for a queen.

First Impressions: Out of the Box
Arrival & Unboxing
Your Octave Horizon mattress will be delivered to your door in a white cardboard box that two people can easily carry. Orders ship free throughout all major cities in Canada, and usually arrive within 1–6 business days of being shipped. There may be added delivery fees and longer timelines for some remote regions.
We recommend not unboxing your mattress until it’s been moved, still in the box, to the room where it will be set up. Once moved, carefully cut open the cardboard, lay the box sideways, remove the vacuum-sealed mattress bag, and lay the mattress on your bed frame. Then remove the outer plastic bag, unroll the mattress, and remove the inner plastic. (You can recycle the box, but per the Octave website, keep the bags for the full 365 nights of your sleep trial, just in case you need to return your Octave.)
Horizon expands to its full height within 3 minutes. The website recommends waiting until at least 30 minutes before sleeping on the newly unboxed mattress, and notes it will achieve its full comfort level after 24 hours. Like all beds in a box, the mattress will feel slightly softer on unboxing day while it’s still expanding to its intended height and firmness.
Look & Feel
With more CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres in the top cover than either Octave Vista or Octave Mirage, Octave Horizon is exceptionally cool to the touch. In fact, you can feel the coolness of the mattress through your sheets.
Every Octave Mirage mattress cover features a swirling blue-grey pattern that’s unique to the mattress—no two are exactly the same—placed on a white background with waterfall edges. The mattress cover is removable and machine-washable, connecting to the navy blue base with a sturdy, yet stylish, zipper.
In a notable personal touch, every Octave mattress is also marked with the CEO’s signature to show the company’s commitment to a good night’s sleep.
Octave Mattress Review: How Engineers Scored the Octave Horizon
The following results were determined by licensed 3rd-party engineers, commissioned by us:
To be able to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website, it was necessary to hire licensed 3rd-party engineers. Their independence and operating standards help to ensure the results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report is linked below and has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
*Be advised: Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.*
How Our Engineers Test Each Mattress:
Test Scores | Octave Horizon |
---|---|
Firmness: | 6.0 / 10 |
Edge support: | 6.8 / 10 |
Motion isolation: | 7.6 / 10 |
Bounce: | 3.8 / 10 |
Feel & Firmness
The Octave Horizon received a firmness rating of 6.0 / 10. It delivers a medium-firm feel with superior support and pressure-point relief. The Horizon features a layer of premium open-cell Elastex® foam designed to target pressure points in your shoulders, back, and hips, as well as multi-zone support foam with five pressure-relief zones to help with spinal alignment.
Edge Support
While lower edge support is common among memory foam mattresses, the Horizon stands out from the rest of the pack with its great edge support score. According to third-party engineers we commissioned, Octave Horizon earned a high edge support rating of 6.8 / 10.
Mattresses with higher edge support are less likely to collapse when people sit at the sides or foot of the bed. Additional support at the sidewalls makes getting off the mattress more comfortable and especially helpful for people with mobility issues.
Motion Isolation
Memory foam mattresses tend to score well for motion isolation, and the Octave Horizon scores above average in this area with the best rating of the three mattresses in the Octave line with a score of 7.6 / 10.
If undisturbed sleep is important to you, and if you share your bed with a restless partner, kids or pets, Horizon is a good choice for you.
Bounce
Octave Horizon scored a 3.8/10 for bounce—a nice side effect of its above-average motion isolation. Memory foam mattresses aren’t usually known for their bounce, and sleepers can often sink or get “stuck” in the mattress when they try to shift positions or get out of bed.
Horizon overcomes that challenge with a springy, responsive latex foam layer that helps you change sleep positions more easily, as well as a premium layer of resilient Elastex® foam, which helps you avoid that “stuck” feeling.

Mattress Layers
The 14” Octave Horizon mattress contains five layers of specialty memory foam, with advanced cooling features and exceptional pressure-point relief and support integrated throughout.
- Comfort Layer: The top layer of Octave Horizon is 2.5″ of CopperGel™ memory foam, infused with moisture-wicking PolarMAX® phase-change material. This high-performance layer conducts excess heat away from your body, giving you a cooler, more comfortable sleep. Copper is also an antimicrobial metal, which helps reduce bacteria and keep your mattress clean.
- Second Layer: The second layer of Octave Horizon contains 1.5” of aerated latex foam, with hundreds of precision air vents for exceptional support and ventilation. This provides optimal airflow and gives the mattress even better cooling and breathability.
- Third layer: Horizon’s middle layer is 2” of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam. The cushioning foam contours around sleepers’ shoulders, back and hips, providing cooling relief for sore muscles and joints.
- Transition Layer: This responsive, body-contouring layer is composed of 2″ premium Elastex® foam that feels like natural latex. It adds extra pressure relief and a little bounce, making it easier to shift sleep positions or get out of bed more easily.
- Support Layer: Octave Horizon’s bottom support layer is constructed from 6” of high-density, motion-isolating support foam to help you stay asleep, even with a restless partner. Five pressure-relief zones help with spinal alignment and ergonomic weight distribution. This layer also contains air channels to let warm air escape and fresh air flow through.
Mattress Cover
Octave Horizon’s mattress cover is cool to the touch, and the top cover is machine-washable for added convenience. The cover contains the most CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres of all the Octave mattresses. In fact, you can feel the coolness of the Horizon through your sheets.

You can buy Octave Horizon through the company’s Canadian website at OctaveSleep.ca. Your order should arrive within 1–6 business days after it’s shipped, depending on where in Canada you live.
You don’t need to be home to wait for delivery, and shouldn’t need to sign for your order unless you live in Quebec or pay with PayPal or Affirm. If you live in a remote location, FedEx may transfer your package to a local courier for final delivery, and there may be additional shipping fees as a result.
Octave is delivered in a white cardboard box that describes the mattress inside. It also includes information about the company’s 365-night sleep trial and the associated return policy. You can recycle the box, but it’s a good idea to keep the bags the mattress was shipped in for the full 365 nights of your sleep trial, just in case you need to return your Octave.
If you aren’t completely satisfied with your mattress after sleeping on it for 30 nights, you can return Octave Horizon in its original plastic bag for a full refund. Any new mattress has a bit of a break-in period, so the company asks you to try out the mattress for at least 30 days, to see if it will achieve the desired firmness and comfort level before you return it. Octave’s customer support will arrange pickup of your returned mattress and donate your returned mattress to a local charity.
