The Arrival 

Haven is available for purchase online and is delivered free of charge throughout most parts of Canada. Shipping fees do apply for some remote locations. The mattress arrives in a tall cardboard box that requires two people to move. However, the box does have handles that make it easier to carry. Haven typically ships within 3–10 business days. 

The Unboxing

Haven is simple to unpack. Once out of the box, the mattress needs to be removed from its protective plastic layers. The unwrapped mattress should fully expand within a few hours.

The Look 

Like other online brands, Haven has opted for a simple two-tone design. The mattress cover has an embossed white knit top and a dark grey woven base.  

The Feel 

The Haven Classic Firm is noticeably firmer than similar latex or foam mattresses. The top layer has very little give or ‘hug.’ Side sleepers may find that Haven is too firm, especially in parts of the body prone to pressure points, like in the shoulders and hips.

Haven Rejuvenate Mattress Layers

Haven Rejuvenate contains four layers. The individual layers work together to provide a good balance of comfort and support. 

• First layer: 1 inch of latex and copper foam. This springy Talalay latex layer is what gives Haven its firm and rigid sleep surface. The added copper acts as a conductive material to help with temperature regulation by pulling heat away from the surface of the bed. Foam density: Unspecified.

• Second layer: 1 inch of open-cell gel memory foam. The slow sink from the memory foam provides a moderate degree of contouring. The open-cell structure of the foam also helps to move air through the mattress to avoid overheating. Foam density: Unspecified. 

• Third layer: 3 inches of open-cell foam. This layer is what differentiates the two firmness options. The Classic Firm version has a consistent firmness throughout the entire layer. This transition foam provides additional stability and limits overall sinkage. Foam density: Unspecified.

• Fourth layer: 5 inches of polyurethane support foam. This bottom layer makes up the foundation of the mattress and keeps you from sinking in too deep. Foam density: Unspecified.

Haven Rejuvenate Mattress Cover

Haven’s top cover is made from a bamboo blend designed to wick away moisture and improve breathability. This is helpful for temperature regulation because body heat is less likely to become trapped under the surface. The top cover is plush and soft to the touch. 

Unlike their hybrid LUX model, the Haven Rejuvenate has a removable cover that makes it easier to spot-clean the mattress if it gets soiled. Customers may wish to cover their mattress with a protector to guard against spills and stains; however, the company advises that this may negate any comfort benefits from the bamboo-blend fabric.

Haven launched in Canada in 2016. Over the years, the company has expanded its catalogue to include five mattress styles, bedding, pillows, and a mattress foundation.

Haven donates one mattress for every 10 mattresses sold. Many online mattress brands donate any returned mattresses that are clean and undamaged to charity. Haven’s website states that returned mattresses are recycled. 

Haven uses FedEx to deliver their mattresses throughout Canada. Shipping is free for most Canadians, and customers can expect to receive their new mattress within five business days. Haven does require a signature upon delivery, so customers must be home on the day of delivery. 

Like many bed-in-a-box companies, Haven promotes its 100-night comfort guarantee. This is when the buyer can try out the mattress at home before deciding to keep it. At 100 nights, this sleep trial is average in length. If you choose to return your mattress during this time, Haven offers free mattress pickup and a refund for the cost of the mattress upon collection.

Competition among Canadian mattress brands is fierce. While Haven is a well-made product, the higher than average $1,450 queen mattress price compared to similar or even premium options with more advanced features like Octave ($899) may put Haven out of the running for more frugal shoppers.

Side and combination sleepers may find Haven’s firmness uncomfortable, especially at the hips and shoulders.
