DreamCloud Is One Of the Softest Hybrid Mattresses We’ve Tested. Will That Be a Problem For Canadian Shoppers?
DreamCloud has been selling mattresses in the United States since 2018, and has been available in Canada since December 2022.
It’s important that potential customers are aware of fines that have been levied against DreamCloud, and their parent Resident, for the company’s sales practices. Customers have also highlighted service complaints that might turn off shoppers:
- The company doesn’t disclose on their website where the mattress is made. DreamCloud has previously been fined by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for fraudulently claiming that their mattresses are made in the USA.
- DreamCloud is listed #2 on this pinned r/Mattress subreddit post for top brands to avoid (Sister brand Nectar is ranked #1). Additionally, DreamCloud has significant customer complaints through Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, and TrustPilot.
The DreamCloud mattress offers a couple of interesting advantages:
- It has a 365-night sleep trial, which is longer than the 100+ nights with other online mattress brands.
- It has a “Lifetime Warranty,” which is much more generous than the standard 10 years found in competitors.
Is that enough for shoppers to abandon trusted Canadian mattresses like Logan & Cove? Time will tell.
What we can say is the DreamCloud mattress has qualities that might turn off mattress shoppers:
- It’s softer than almost all other hybrid mattresses we’ve reviewed, according to testing by licensed 3rd-party engineers, commissioned by us.
- It lacks some luxury features and is more expensive than other premium hybrid mattresses. DreamCloud is $1,399 for a queen.

First Impressions: Straight Out of the Box
The Arrival
The DreamCloud mattress can be purchased online from the company’s website, and at select retail locations in Canada; shipping is free for most addresses. There is a $150 shipping fee for customers in Yukon and Northwest Territories. The mattress arrives in 7–14 business days and arrives compressed and wrapped in plastic. It requires two people to carry.
NOTE: The DreamCloud mattress we ordered was missing the delivery box. See photo in Delivery section below.
The Unboxing
Like other direct-to-consumer mattresses, DreamCloud is simple to unpack. After the plastic wrap has been cut open and removed, the mattress unfolds and expands within a few minutes. The DreamCloud may need up to 72 hours for it to expand to its full 14 inches of height.
The Look
DreamCloud has a stylish and premium look. The dark-blue sidewalls are decorated with circular dimples and lined in black fabric. The top cover (which is not machine washable) is a creamy white that’s stitched with cloud patterns.
The Feel
DreamCloud’s polyester and rayon cover is infused with a trace amount of cashmere, so it feels smooth and soft to the touch.
When you lie down on the mattress, you may notice some sinkage, especially at the hips. DreamCloud feels soft and cushy at first impression, and may not have the support that shoppers might expect in a hybrid (foam and spring) mattress.
For more details on the DreamCloud mattress firmness, see the Official Test Results below.
Official Test Results: How Do Engineers Rate DreamCloud?
The following results were determined by licensed 3rd-party engineers, commissioned by us:
To accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website, it was necessary to hire licensed 3rd-party engineers. Their independence and operating standards help ensure the results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report is linked below and has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
*Be advised: Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.*
How Our Engineers Test Each Mattress:
Test Scores | DreamCloud |
---|---|
Firmness: | 5.7 / 10 |
Edge support: | 5.7 / 10 |
Motion isolation: | 5.9 / 10 |
Bounce: | 3.9 / 10 |
Feel & Firmness
The DreamCloud mattress firmness is Medium. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), it is rated at 5.7 / 10 on the firmness scale.
DreamCloud is tied with Endy Hybrid for softest hybrid mattress ever tested by Mattress-Reviews.com.
This is an unusual design choice by DreamCloud because most people tend to prefer a medium-firm mattress. And it’s especially unusual because many customers shopping for a hybrid mattress want one that has strong support.
If you weigh over 125 lbs. or you like to sleep on your back and stomach, DreamCloud may not have enough support to keep your spine in a comfortable, neutral position.
One factor that may be contributing to DreamCloud’s soft firmness rating is the fact that the mattress does not have thicker-gauge steel coils in the middle section of the mattress, like Logan & Cove.
Edge Support
According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), DreamCloud’s edge-support rating is 5.7 / 10. This is about average for a hybrid mattress.
To increase its edge support, DreamCloud has thicker coils built around the perimeter of the pocketed coil layer. Some manufacturers will add this extra structural component to increase the rigidity at the edges of the mattress.
As expected, the DreamCloud mattress doesn’t sink too much when you’re sitting or lying near the edge of the bed.
Motion Isolation
According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), DreamCloud scored 5.9 / 10 on the motion isolation scale.
Among other hybrid mattresses we’ve tested, DreamCloud ranks below average. Many comparable mattresses have a better motion isolation score. This means that slight tremors may be felt when one sleeping partner shifts positions or gets out of bed on the DreamCloud mattress.
Is a serene sleep super important to you? If you want a hybrid mattress with excellent motion-isolation, check out Logan & Cove.
Bounce
According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), DreamCloud’s bounce score is 3.9 / 10. This is below average compared to other coil-based hybrid mattresses we’ve tested.
Keep in mind that we don’t use the bounce score when calculating the overall mattress rating. That’s because bounce is a personal preference. Some sleepers love a springy sleep surface. Whereas others like to sink into the layers without too much movement.
Overall, if you prefer a bouncy mattress, you might be disappointed with DreamCloud.
Mattress Construction: What’s DreamCloud Made Of?

Support layer 2: | 1" polyurethane foam |
Cover materials: | 68% polyester, 31% rayon, 1% cashmere |
Machine washable: | No |

DreamCloud is available only in one firmness option, which is a similar approach to other bed-in-box brands like Casper, Leesa, and Nectar.
EDITOR’S NOTE:
The DreamCloud mattress we purchased for this review was manufactured in the United States (according to the law label). The label also indicated that the mattress was made in November 2021. We received and unboxed our mattress in May 2022. There is the possibility that the mattress had been sitting in a warehouse for months. Many direct-to-consumer brands make their mattresses fresh to order. If a mattress is left too long compressed in a box, it can damage the foam and springs and not expand properly.
DreamCloud Mattress Layers
DreamCloud has a total of five layers. Like other hybrid (foam and coil) mattresses, the layers in the DreamCloud mattress work together to provide a balance of comfort and support.
- First layer: 1.5-inch polyurethane foam. This plush foam is stitched underneath the quilted top cover. It provides immediate cushioning and softness when you lie down. Foam density: unknown.
- Second layer: 1-inch viscoelastic polyurethane foam. This gel-infused memory foam contours to your body in various sleeping positions. It also helps dissipate body heat from building up too much under the sleep surface. Foam density: unknown.
- Third layer: 2-inch polyurethane foam. This standard poly foam acts as a supplementary layer to soften the transition from memory foam above to pocketed coils below. Foam density: unknown.
- Forth layer: 8.5-inch pocketed coils with reinforced edge support. These stainless steel coils make up the foundation of the mattress. Together, the coils are designed to provide pressure relief, support, and insulation against motion. The outer perimeter of coils are thicker to provide enhanced edge support.
- Fifth layer: 1-inch polyurethane foam. This is another layer of standard polyurethane foam. It works as a cushioned foundation for the mattress to rest on. Foam density: unknown.
DreamCloud Mattress Cover
The DreamCloud mattress’s top cover is made with a blend of 68% polyester, 31% rayon, and 1% cashmere.
The cover is soft to the touch and provides good breathability. DreamCloud reinforces its brand theme with white cloud designs stitched into the cover. Small, recessed dimples in the clouds offer extra texture.
NOTE: The cover on DreamCloud is NOT machine washable. At time of writing this review, there is no cleaning instructions provided on DreamCloud’s Canadian website. If owners want protection against spills and stains for their DreamCloud mattress, they will need to purchase an aftermarket mattress protector.

Final Thoughts on DreamCloud
The DreamCloud mattress has created a storm of sales since its launch in the United States. Thousands of reviews show that its popularity is right up there with other hybrid brands like Saatva, Casper, and Logan & Cove.
Here in Canada, however, it’s unclear if DreamCloud will find the same success.
The DreamCloud mattress has an eye-catching 365-night sleep trial and Lifetime warranty. Since many people know to replace their mattress after 8–10 years, the Lifetime warranty might not be relevant.
DreamCloud’s softer-than-average firmness score is also something to consider. It just might be too soft for many sleepers accustomed to firmer hybrid mattresses.
Finally, DreamCloud’s lack of clarity related to country of origin, along with its spotty record of customer service, could be a red flag for buyers.
If you’re shopping for a hybrid mattress, we think there’s a better, made-in-Canada option. Logan & Cove Choice is a luxury hybrid mattress that has more premium features (pillow-top, high-density memory foam, zonal coils) along with a choice of firmness options. $999 for a queen.
