Can an Ultra-Value Foam Mattress Still Provide a Great Sleep?
With a price of just $379 for a queen, you might be wondering how much you’re sacrificing in order to save a few dollars on a mattress.
According to the results of this review, Cherry has what it takes to offer a great sleep — and does so with made-in-Canada quality at a made-in-China price.
In fact, Cherry is quite possibly the lowest-priced foam mattress made in Canada.
Launched in 2021, Cherry features a cooling gel layer, good motion isolation, and a no-nonsense design. Cherry slots under Juno as the most value-minded option from online bed-in-a-box brand GoodMorning.com.

★★★★★
“Bought for a rarely-used guest bed, but thought I’d give it a try. It was instantly comfortable. This foam mattress took me back to my university days when I also slept on a foam mattress provided by the dorm, and had some of the best sleeps of my life.”

First Impressions: Straight Out of the Box
The Arrival
Cherry is available for purchase exclusively from GoodMorning.com.
The mattress arrives at your door in a cardboard box and is shipped free of charge across Canada. In some regions, you can waive the necessary signature and have the mattress dropped off while you’re away from home. For some remote locations, additional shipping charges may apply.
The Unboxing
Cut open the top of the box and use the ‘tip-and-pull’ method to slide Cherry out of the box. After cutting open the packaging, Cherry expands to its full, 6-inch height in about 2 minutes, so it’s ready to sleep on that same night.
The Look
Cherry features a clean, simple design. The top and sides have an all-white, polyester-blend cover that is woven with repeated circular patterns. The cover is soft to the touch. The bottom of the mattress has a non-skid fabric that helps keep Cherry from shifting on its base.
The Feel
Cherry is a medium-firm mattress, which is the most popular firmness among foam mattresses shipped in a box. When you lie down on Cherry, there is a slight amount of sinkage as the mattress layers cushion the shoulders and hips. The mattress offers enough support to maintain proper spinal alignment in all sleeping positions throughout the night.
Official Test Results: How Do Engineers Rate the Cherry Mattress?
The following results were determined by licensed 3rd-party engineers, commissioned by us:
To be able to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website, it was necessary to hire licensed 3rd-party engineers. Their independence and operating standards help to ensure the results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report is linked below and has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
*Be advised: Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.*
How Our Engineers Test Each Mattress:
Test Scores | Cherry |
---|---|
Firmness: | 7.2 / 10 |
Edge support: | 5.3 / 10 |
Motion isolation: | 6.4 / 10 |
Bounce: | 3.1 / 10 |
Feel & Firmness
Cherry is a medium-firm mattress. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), it is rated at 7.2 / 10 on the firmness spectrum. This places the Cherry mattress slightly more to the firm side due to less sinkage compared to some foam mattresses. Nevertheless, Cherry has a balanced mix of support and comfort.
Edge Support
Foam mattresses often have lower edge support scores than their spring and hybrid counterparts. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), Cherry is rated at 5.3 / 10 on the edge support scale. This is a respectable score considering that Cherry does not have a coils or extra perimeter reinforcement to bolster the edges of the mattress.
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation in foam mattresses is usually very good and one of the main reasons couples make the switch from innerspring to memory foam. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), Cherry performed above average in this area, rating at 6.4 / 10 on the motion isolation scale.
Bounce
Because foam mattresses often have very high motion isolation scores, they tend to also have low bounce ratings. According to the testing conducted by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the Cherry mattress is rated at 3.1 / 10 for bounce, which is about average for similar foam mattresses.

Cherry is a combination foam mattress. By pairing two different types of foam with different densities and features, Cherry offers comfort, cooling, and support in a relatively straightforward configuration.
The Cherry mattress is available only in one firmness option. This ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is quite common among mattress-in-a-box retailers.
Cherry Mattress Layers
The Cherry mattress contains two layers of foam. Like many combination foam mattresses available on the market today, these two layers work together to provide comfort and support.
- First layer: 1 inch of Cooling Gel Foam. This top layer offers contoured comfort, as well as overall cooling and breathability. Foam density: 2.5 lbs/ft³.
- Second layer: 5 inches of Stable Support Foam. This bottom layer allows Cherry to provide support and firmness to sleepers. This layer improves overall edge support while reducing motion transfer. Foam density: 1.8 lbs/ft³.
Cherry Mattress Cover
Cherry’s cover design reflects the back-to-basics approach you would expect with a value-priced foam mattress. The entire cover is woven with circular patterns that give Cherry a soft, dimpled texture when you run your hand across the sleep surface. A magenta-red tag with the Cherry logo offers a pop of colour to the otherwise all-white mattress. If you need to remove the mattress cover for spot cleaning, there is a zipper located on the bottom of the mattress.

Final Thoughts on the Cherry Mattress
Cherry is the result of a challenge: Without relying on cheap Chinese manufacturing, could GoodMorning.com design an even more affordable Canadian foam mattress than the popular Juno model? We think they have succeeded.
Cherry has the features that come standard on all GoodMorning.com mattresses: CertiPUR-US®-certified foams; free shipping and returns; a 120-night sleep trial; and a 15-year warranty. The engineer testing results also suggest that sleepers aren’t any sacrificing comfort and support at this low price point.
When you take into account that Cherry is made in Canada at a price competitive with many Chinese-made foam mattresses, it’s clear that Cherry is a great buy among value mattresses.
