Casper Snow can be purchased online from the Casper website or from Sleep Country Canada. Shipping is free for both retailers. We purchased the queen-size mattress for this review from Casper’s online store.

Casper ships within 1–3 business days. The mattress arrives rolled up, sealed in a plastic bag, and compressed in a box. While it’s somewhat bulky, the box is relatively easy for one person to remove and unpack.

Once opened and unrolled, the mattress takes only a few moments to expand. However, once it’s expanded, Casper Snow will probably require two people to haul it into position.

Look & Feel

Casper Snow has a white-and-light-grey colour scheme. A dark grey band extends around the foot of the bed, with a light blue Casper tag and the name of the mattress in white letters. The mattress top features a ridged design broken up with a pattern of circles. True to the name, Casper Snow is cool to the touch.

Casper Snow has a medium-firm feel, so you can expect a slight “hug” from the top layer of the mattress when you lie down. However, the zoned memory foam and flex coils add some support, preventing you from sinking too deeply into the mattress.

Casper Snow Mattress Layers

The 12″ Casper Snow is a medium-firm mattress with five distinct layers. Four of these layers are foam, and one layer contains both foam and coils. However, the Casper website only shows three layers on the Casper Snow product page.

• First layer: This layer is 1″ of perforated polyurethane foam. Trademarked as AirScape® Technology, the foam is drilled with holes to help make it more breathable and dissipate heat. This layer also features phase-change material to help regulate your body’s temperature.

• Second layer: The second layer is 1″ of zoned memory foam, divided into three zones to provide support and spinal alignment. This layer also has HeatDelete™ bands to aid in regulating your body temperature.

• Third layer: The third layer of the Casper Snow mattress is 2″ of unknown foam. It is not described or included in the layer image on the Casper website.

• Fourth layer: This layer of the Casper Snow contains 6.5″ individually pocketed flex coils. This layer provides some extra bounce and durability for the mattress.

• Fifth layer: The bottom layer of the Casper Snow mattress is 1″ of unknown poly foam. It is not described or included in the layer image on the Casper website.

Casper Snow’s mattress cover accounts for the remaining 0.5″ of the mattress’s height. Casper does not disclose the densities of the foams used in Casper Snow. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.

Casper Snow Mattress Cover

Casper Snow’s mattress cover is made using recycled polyester, cotton, rayon, lycra, and cooling yarn. The mattress has a zipper, but Casper does not recommend removing the cover under any circumstances. The cover is not machine-washable and should be spot-cleaned only.

Casper was one of the early bed-in-a-box brands to garner attention in North America. Thanks to a sizable marketing budget and past celebrity ownership and investment, the Casper mattress is often the first online mattress that people recognize. Since launching in 2014, however, dozens of competitors have managed to chip away at the trendy brand’s prominence by offering more specialized options, a lower price point, or a combination of the two.

Headquartered in the United States, Casper has expanded its product catalog to offer a variety of mattresses, bedding accessories, and home decor items. Despite receiving millions of dollars in funding from the Target Corporation and celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, Casper reported significant losses on revenue in 2020.

In 2021, Casper Sleep Inc. announced that it had entered into an agreement to be acquired by Durational Capital Management. Two years later, in 2023, Sleep Country Canada announced that it had completed the acquisition of all the Canadian assets of Casper Sleep Inc.

Casper delivers throughout most parts of Canada and the United States. In some cases, the delivery can be left outside while the customer is away from home. Shipping is free for Americans and Canadians, and Casper customers can expect their new mattress within 1 to 3 business days.

Like many bed-in-a-box companies, Casper heavily promotes its mattress sleep trial. At 100 nights, this sleep trial is average in length when compared to other online brands. The company also offers free mattress pick-up and a full refund when returned. It is worth noting that Mattress-Reviews.com did not complete the return process, but received this information via the ‘Live Chat’ function on Casper’s website.
