PerfectSense and Juno are two relatively new mattress brands looking to gain their footing in the Canadian market. Here’s a quick overview of both companies.
PerfectSense
PerfectSense Home is an online bedding and home textile producer that operates primarily in Canada. The small e-commerce company joined the competitive mattress-in-a-box field in 2018 with the release of their 10-inch foam mattress. The mattress is imported from China and competes in the budget category with brands like Juno, Zinus, and Classic Brands. PerfectSense also sells an assortment of other sleep accessories on their website. Their company slogan is “Sleep Better, Live Better.”
Juno
The Juno mattress was launched in August of 2019 by the Canadian mattress-in-a-box company GoodMorning.com. Designed, sold, and manufactured exclusively in Canada, Juno is the logical next step in the progression of GoodMorning.com’s mission to make high-quality sleep more affordable throughout Canada. This value mattress comes with all the features GoodMorning.com is famous for, such as the 120-night trial, 15-year warranty, and outstanding Canadian customer care – and does so at a very affordable price.

Thanks to modern compression methods and the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, mattresses can now be shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than ever before. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery. Boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same-day delivery to certain areas.
Delivery
PerfectSense uses a variety of shipping partners to deliver directly to customers throughout Canada, while Juno uses FedEx. Both companies offer free shipping to most Canadian postal codes, with remote shipping fees applying to a minority of addresses.
The PerfectSense website has a delivery estimate of 2 to 5 business days. Juno customers can expect to see their mattress delivered within 3 to 10 business days, excluding public holidays.
Trial Period
Like many bed-in-a-box companies, PerfectSense and Juno both come with in-home sleep trials. With a 120-night sleep trial, Juno boasts one of the longest sleep trials in the mattress industry; PerfectSense gives customers 100 days to decide.
Returns and Additional Fees
If a customer wishes to return their PerfectSense or Juno mattress within the sleep trial period, each company will arrange to pick up their respective mattress and issue a full refund. There are no additional return or stocking fees for either the PerfectSense or Juno mattresses.

While the Juno arrived within the expected delivery time, the PerfectSense mattress did not. Although PerfectSense’s website estimates delivery times at 2 to 5 business days, our order took 18 business days to arrive. This may not happen to every PerfectSense customer but shipping delays are not unusual when there are stock issues or the mattress is being imported from overseas.
Both mattress boxes came sealed with heavy-duty tape. Customers will need scissors or a knife to open the box. To prevent injuries and to avoid damaging the mattress inside, please remember to be very careful when using sharp objects to open the box.
Once opened, each compressed mattress is easy to remove from the box. We recommend a ‘tip-and-pull’ motion to slowly slide the mattress out from its cardboard container. Simply tip the box from a vertical position down onto its side, and then pull the lightweight box away from the bundled mattress. It’s most efficient to do this process in the room where you intend to use the mattress.
Both mattresses are protected with multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic to compress it in a vacuum seal and keep it tightly rolled up for shipping.
Customers will need to unwrap the outer layer in order to unroll the mattress, which will still be in its compressed form. Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled up mattress onto the designated bed frame. Next, like the end of a roll of tape, find and peel back the outer layer of plastic. You can use the momentum of unrolling the compressed mattress along the bed frame to help remove the rest of this layer, which could be up to a few meters long.
Next, cut the final layer of plastic. The vacuum seal now broken, the mattress will quickly begin to decompress. Remove this final layer of plastic as the mattress expands to its full height. For the PerfectSense mattress, full expansion took around 5 minutes while the Juno mattress was fully expanded in 2 minutes.

PerfectSense and Juno are both combination foam mattresses. With both of these mattresses, multiple layers are used to offer comfort and support.
That being said, there are some differences between the PerfectSense and Juno mattresses. For one, Juno’s cover material is made from polyester and viscose while PerfectSense has a 100% polyester cover. Both mattresses have a cooling gel-infused layer for comfort as well as support layers. PerfectSense contains a transition layer. Each layer of both mattresses varies in height and in density.
In addition, both mattresses sport a distinct cover design. With mattresses, top covers are sometimes removable. In this case PerfectSense has a removable, machine-washable cover, while Juno is spot clean only.
PerfectSense vs Juno Mattress Layers
PerfectSense
Juno
The PerfectSense mattress contains three layers:
- First layer: 2 inches of cooling gel foam. This top comfort layer provides cushioning and softness as soon as you lie down. Layer density: 2.8 lbs/ft³.
- Second layer: 2 inches of polyurethane foam. This transition layer works with the layers above it and below to help reduce motion transfer and offer pressure-point relief. Layer density: 1.6 lbs/ft³.
- Third layer: 6 inches of support foam. This base layer provides the overall structure and support for the mattress, enabling the functions of the layers above. Layer density: 1.5 lbs/ft³.
Juno Mattress Layers
The Juno mattress contains two layers of foam. Like many combination foam mattresses available on the market today, these two layers work together to provide comfort and support.
- First layer: 2 inches of Full-Body Cooling Gel Foam. This top layer offers contoured comfort, as well as overall cooling and breathability. Foam density: 2.5 lbs/ft³.
- Second layer: 6 inches of Total Support Foam. This bottom layer allows Juno to provide support and firmness to sleepers. This layer improves overall edge support while reducing motion transfer. Foam density: 1.8 lbs/ft³.
PerfectSense vs Juno Mattress Cover
PerfectSense
Juno
PerfectSense Mattress Cover
PerfectSense has a two-tone cover design that is common among bed-in-a-box brands. The bottom portion is made of grey upholstery, while the top portion is made of white jacquard knit. A purple stripe and zipper divide the upper and lower portions. There are no identifying brand markers anywhere on the exterior of the mattress.
While the PerfectSense website advertises that the mattress uses an organic bamboo cover, the law label on the mattress lists the cover materials as 100% polyester. This cover is removable and machine washable.
Juno Mattress Cover
Juno’s cover design is an homage to the iconic striped wool socks Canadians have worn for generations. The grey, white, and red pattern is made up of a soft blend of polyester and viscose. The Juno logo is stitched across the red stripe running across the mattress. Finally, there’s a zipper underneath the mattress that makes it possible for you to remove the cover if necessary for easier care and maintenance.

Should you buy a PerfectSense or a Juno?
These two newcomers to the Canadian mattress industry may seem like they have a lot in common at first. Both are foam-based mattresses with dense support layers. Both have similar firmness levels without being too far apart in their edge support and bounce ratings. And while PerfectSense has a machine-washable cover, Juno offers significantly higher motion isolation.
But in this low-cost category, what will really place Juno ahead of PerfectSense in the eyes of most value shoppers is its lower price. That lower price stands out even more when considering that Juno also offers a longer sleep trial and warranty. And it’s made in Canada with Canadian materials. Lastly, Juno’s foams are also CertiPUR-US® certified, guaranteeing their quality and safety.
For these reasons and more, Juno is Mattress-Reviews.com’s TOP PICK for MATTRESSES UNDER $500. Shoppers who want a bargain without compromising on quality will enjoy sleeping on this comfortable and cooling mattress for years to come.
