With the rising popularity of the bed-in-a-box, memory foam mattresses are now shipped far more efficiently and conveniently than mattresses purchased from traditional retail stores. Customers no longer need to take a day off work to accept a delivery as boxed beds are now delivered with the same convenience as most Amazon orders. Some bed-in-a-box companies even offer same day delivery to certain areas.

Casper uses UPS to deliver their mattresses to Canadians. Logan & Cove uses FedEx. Both mattresses will be delivered directly to customers’ doors throughout most parts of Canada. In some cases, the mattresses can even be left on a porch or deck while the customer is away from home.

Shipping times for the Casper mattress and the Logan & Cove mattress vary. The Casper mattress will be delivered within 6 business days, whereas the Logan & Cove mattress will be delivered within 10 business days.

The Casper mattress and Logan & Cove mattress were both delivered to us within the expected delivery time. Both mattresses were well protected by heavy-duty plastic layers within the boxes to protect the mattresses during shipping.

The Casper mattress and Logan & Cove mattress boxes were both sealed with heavy-duty tape. Customers will definitely need scissors or a knife to open the box. Remember to be extra careful when using sharp objects to open the box.

Once opened, the compressed mattress is easy to remove from the box. A simple ‘tip-and-pull’ motion is what we recommend. Simply tip the box from a vertical position into a horizontal position and pull the mattress out of the box. We recommend doing this process in the room where you intend to use the mattress.

The Casper mattress and Logan & Cove mattress are both protected with multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic, and customers will need to unwrap the first layer in order to change the mattress from a cylindrical shape into a flat, albeit compressed, shape.

Some helpful advice at this stage is to place the rolled mattress onto the designated bed frame, find the end of the outer layer plastic, pull it loose, and use the resulting momentum to roll the mattress into position on the frame. Once in position, remove the outer plastic layer. After completing this process, customers will see an unrolled mattress. Simply unroll the mattress making sure the top cover is facing up, and place the corners in the correct positions along the frame or foundation.

Next, cut the final layer of plastic and the new Casper mattress or Logan & Cove mattress will start decompressing. Remove this final layer of plastic and the mattress should expand to its full height within a few minutes. The Casper mattress took 3 minutes to fully expand. The Logan & Cove mattress took 1 minute to fully expand.

The Casper mattress and Logan & Cove mattress are constructed very differently.

Some of the major differences between the Casper mattress and Logan & Cove mattress are the different types of foams used for comfort, contouring, and pressure-point relief, and support layers for motion isolation and edge support. Each mattress contains comfort, transition, and support layers, and these layers vary slightly in height and density.

Also, both mattresses have a unique top cover which showcases the brand’s mattress design. Neither mattress has a machine-washable top cover.

The Casper mattress contains four layers of foam:

• First layer:  1.5 inches of ‘open-cell’ polyurethane foam. This top layer is designed to provide comfort and heat-regulating performance.

• Second layer: 1.5 inches of memory foam. This layer works with the first comfort layer to provide an element of support, will help conform to your body shape, and assist with pressure-point relief.

• Third layer: 1.5 inches of zoned polyurethane foam. This layer acts as a transitional layer between the two comfort layers and the final support layer. This layer is ‘zoned,’ meaning the firmness varies under the shoulder and hip areas.

• Fourth layer: 5.5 inches of support foam. This layer gives the Casper mattress its structure and prevents sleepers from sinking in too deep.

Note: Casper does not provide density information for any of their layers of foam. Furthermore, The Casper Original is no longer in production and has been replaced by The Casper. The new model is slightly smaller than the original and no longer includes three-zone support in the middle layer.

The Logan & Cove mattress is made with 4 robust layers, to meet the needs of different comfort preferences:

• First layer: 0.5 inch of quilted top cover. The top cover is made with CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibers, which provide a cool and supple feel. It also includes breathable hollow fibre fill and quilted gel-infused foam for added plushness.

• Second layer: 1 inch of cooling gel memory foam. This responsive material helps with cushioning and heat regulation around the sleeping surface. Foam density: 2.5 lbs/ft³.

• Third layer: 1.5 inches of Elastex® foam. This thicker foam layer serves as transitional support between the pocketed coils below and the cushioning layers above. It effortlessly contours to your body, providing exceptional comfort in any sleeping position. Foam density: 1.8 lbs/ft³.

• Fourth layer: 9-inch individually wrapped pocketed coils. The pocketed coils are made from multi-tempered steel and arranged in 5 zones to provide robust support and motion isolation across the entire sleep surface.
